Phil Harris

Phil Harris (1904-1995) was an American actor, musician, and bandleader known for his work in the genres of jazz, swing, and popular music. He gained prominence in the 1930s and 1940s, initially as a bandleader for his own orchestras, which featured a mix of swing and novelty tunes. Harris is perhaps best known for his work with Walt Disney, providing the voice for Baloo the Bear in the animated classic "The Jungle Book" (1967) and for his role as Phil Harris on the radio show "The Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show," which aired from 1948 to 1954. Some of his notable works include the hit recordings “That’s What I Like About the South” and “The Thing.” Harris's style blended humor with musical talent, appealing to a broad audience, and he became a staple of American entertainment. His impact on music and entertainment is evident in his blending of comedic performance with music, influencing later generations of entertainers who combined humor and music. Harris's contributions to the music industry and his memorable voice work in animation have left a lasting legacy in both fields.
